This popular Chinese food is easy to prepare in the air fryer. Without any added fat, the chicken will be crispy and tender and the sauce will remind you of the traditional Sesame Chicken dish served in most Chinese restaurants. 1poundchicken thighs or breastboneless and skinless
1/2cuppotato starch
olive oil
Sauce
2tbspbrown sugar
1/4cupsoy sauce
2tbsporange juice
1/4cuphoisin sauce
1tspground ginger
1tspgarlic powder
1tbspwater
1tbspcornstarch
Instructions
Chicken
Cut the chicken into bit sized pieces (1 inch each)
Place the chicken into a large bowl and add the potato starch to coat evenly
Place the coated chicken in the air fryer basket
Spray the chicken generously with olive oil.
Air fry at 350°F for 14 minutes, flipping chicken halfway
Sauce
Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, orange juice, hoisin sauce, ginger, and garlic powder to a small saucepan, and bring to a slight simmer
Once the sauce starts to simmer, stir in the cornstarch and water, mix well until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
Toss cooked chicken with the sauce
Plate, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
The exact cooking time will depend on size if chicken and the type of air fry. Always use a meat thermometer and make sure sure internal temperature of the chicken is 165°F.
Make the sauce while the chicken is cooking, the sauce and the chicken should take about the same amount of time.
