Chinese Style Battered Pork (Idea: Sweet & Sour)

Fancy a Chinese inspire dinner? Here we have crafted the basic battered pork, you’d most likely recognize it’s style from the Chinese takeaway Sweet & Sour, Szechuan, or Hot & Sour. To complete the meal we’d recommend adding some veg, and pineapple too. Let us know if you have any ideas in the comments section below.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Pork cut into 2.5cm chunks
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 cup Potato Starch (or cornstarch)
  • 1 pinch Chinese Five Spice
  • 3 tablespoons Canola Oil
  • Salt and Black Pepper to season

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 340°F
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the starch, salt, pepper and Chinese Five Spice
  3. In another mixing bowl, beat the eggs and add Sesame Oil
  4. Dip each pork piece into the starch, covering it, but shaking off excess Next, dip each piece into the egg mixture, then back into starch
  5. Spray the covered pork pieces with oil
  6. Place the pork into the air fryer basket
  7. Set the timer for 10 minutes (or until pork is cooked), shake the basket during cooking for best results.
  8. Serve with your favorite veg and sauce, we'd recommend Sweet & Sour
